Specialized Tools

Specialized caliper depression tools, also known as brake caliper piston compression tools, are used to compress the piston in a brake caliper when replacing brake pads or rotors.

As brake pads wear down, the piston in the caliper extends to keep the pads in contact with the rotor. When it's time to replace the pads, the piston needs to be compressed back into the caliper to make room for the new pads.

Caliper depression tools are designed to fit over the piston and apply even pressure to compress it back into the caliper. Some tools are designed to work with specific types of brake calipers, while others are more universal.
